Join us as we explore the natural world on June 1st, National Trails Day and World Environment Day.  Our forage will begin at 11am and run until 12:30pm. Our guide will be Alyssa Actaea, a teacher of many parts. In addition to ongoing training in aspects of the natural world and leading groups on foraging hikes, she is an herbalist, mushroom fan, silversmith and mother. We include a short statement by Alyssa below the outlines her approach and philosophy. 

"I have personally hosted many educational walks in a variety of ecological environments but my familiarity and expertise primarily lies within Western New York and the Adirondack Mountain Region. I will forever be a student and believe that we all have something to learn from each other. When following me through the forest, students will learn about the environment of plants & fungi, keying out and identification, identifying lookalikes, edible parts, preparation & medicinal properties as well as the status of protection peppered with fun anecdotes and curiosity. I host walks that encourage engagement and conversation open to all ages and walks of life."

We are considering ending the class with a simple lunch of bread and soup, with locally foraged plants being the main ingredients. There would be no additional charge for the lunch but whether we do it depends on interest. Please indicate if you'd like to join us for lunch.

The class will be limited to thirty, so we suggest signing up early!

If the class is filled, We may offer one or more additional classes based on interest later in the summer.
