Every animal who comes to Cracker Box Palace deserves the care they need - not just when they arrive, but whenever an unexpected medical issue arises. That's why our Emergency Animal Care Fund is so critical.

Right now, several of our residents are receiving specialized veterinary care. Among them:

​

• Paul, one of our goats, has been battling ongoing hoof problems and is now seeing specialists to help get the condition under control and keep him comfortable.

• Seabiscuit, our miniature horse, was diagnosed with Equine Odontoclastic Tooth Resorption and Hypercementosis (EOTRH), a painful dental disease. To relieve her pain, veterinarians had to perform surgery so her mouth could be opened wide enough to safely extract two severely affected teeth.

• Honey, one of our horses, is currently being treated for Lyme disease while also battling laminitis, a painful condition that affects the hooves. She requires ongoing veterinary care, medication, and careful management to keep her comfortable.

 

These cases represent the heart of our mission - but they also represent unplanned medical expenses beyond our normal veterinary budget. The financial strain is real, and it threatens our ability to respond quickly when the next animal needs urgent care.
