Animal Cruelty; How does this happen and what does it take to correct the problem?
How we at the farm handle cruelty cases that are referred to us. Base vs. On-scene. Body scoring. Farm Animals and horses vs. cats and dogs. There’s a difference!

Speakers: Wayne County Executive Director Mark Plyter, Animal Cruelty Investigator Bob Howard, Cracker Box Palace Large Animal Rescue Team.


May 9, Sat 1pm - 3pm
Know your animals – the first line of defense. - Gaining their trust and training.
- How to safely work around a 1000 to 2000 lb. animal!
- Ruminants - Cows, steer, llamas, alpaca, goats, sheep – Speakers: Derek Poole and Cheri
- Equine – horses, ponies, donkeys, mules – Speaker: Cheri
- Pigs and hogs – Speaker: Burt and Cheri
- Poultry and birds – Speaker: Kritter Kris (will also touch on wildlife)

Immunizations, worming schedules, what to do when the vet comes.
Inspiring future large animal vets & farriers. Medical, first aid and preventative measures animal owners can do. Feeds, hay and bedding.
Farm and domestic animal veterinarians.


June 6, Sat. 1pm - 3pm
Vet Talk! Information on animal care and preventative care, first aid and feeds.
Also Baby and older animal care. Immunications, worming schedules, what to do when the vet comes. Inspiring future large animal vets and farriers. Medical, first aid and preventative measures animal owners can do. Feeds, hay and bedding.
Speakers: Horse vet, Ruminant and Pig's Vet: Dr. David Scoville, D.V.M. Cats, dogs and reabbit's vet: Dr. Kevin Wolfer, D.V.M. Older animals, disabled animals, babies, animals with special needs or special care speaker: Cheri


July 11, Sat. 1pm - 3pm
Hooves and nails! What to do when the farrier comes.
How you can maintain your animal’s feet and save on having to have the farrier do an emergency call!

August 1 & 2 - 2 Day Training
Emergency medical, First Aid and Large Animal Response Team.
CART (County Animal Rescue Team) and LART (Large Animal Rescue Team) How to join the team. Call 315-483-2493 to register for this class

Working on the farm, around large animals, the weather, the dangers.
Speakers: Alton Fire Dept and EMT, Kritter Kris.
Will also try to contact Cornell for their program on farm emergencies.
